U.C.A. COLLEGE OF PARAMEDICAL SCIENCE

In 1993 the U.C.A. has started a 3 years and 6 months Diploma Course in Physiotherapy which was upgraded into a B.P.T Degree Course in the year 1998 which is for a 4 years academic and 6 months of compulsory rotatory internship training. This B.P.T. Degree course is recognized by the Govt. of Tamilnadu and the college is affiliated to The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai – 32.
The degree Course is conducted in accordance with the regulations and syllabus formulated by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai – 32. The subjects taught include Social Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Physiotherapy subjects and Rehabilitation Sciences. |

| TRAINING |
All measures are taken to give exposure to the students on current trends of treatment in the above subjects. The college is collaborating with Medical Colleges and Hospitals at Chennai for clinical training of students. The students are also regularly trained during the final year in Madras Medical Mission Hospital, Chennai – 37. |

| FACULTY |
Besides, the full time Physiotherapy faculties who are eminent persons in our fields, we also have a distinguished team of Visiting Faculties who are retired Professors from Govt. Medical Colleges. Demonstration and teaching of Anatomy consists of Dissected Human Body (Cadaveric) demonstration by the Professor of Anatomy. |

OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT |

The Out Patient Department in the College premises is equipped with all the required facilities and is attached to the Institute. The patients are taken care by a team of Physiotherapists with wide experience, under the guidance of Medical Director. |

ADMISSION |
|
| |
Admission to B.P.T Degree Course is based on Govt. of Tamilnadu Selection Committee requirements. Fifty students are admitted every year. Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination under Govt. of Tamilnadu with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology as subjects of study and other equivalent qualifications approved by the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR. Medical University are eligible for admission. Minimum age for admission is 17 years. Hostel is provided for girl students. Applicants should apply to the Principal for admission to B.P.T Course |

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
|

| |
Students are encouraged to participate in Community Based Rehabilitation Programmes and Continuing Medical Education Programmes, Conferences, various competitions of Physiotherapy Colleges under the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University and under the Govt. of Tamilnadu. Study tour is a regular feature of the curriculum. |
