A good Christian General Hospital, run on not for profit basis is one of the facilities that is lacking in chennai. Union Christian Association has a plan for a phased construction of an ultimately 300 bed Hospital in possibly three blocks at Nolumbur, Chennai.

One block would be a services building housing the Outpatient facility, imaging, laboratories, pharmacy and canteen, with provision to add community health. The upper floors could provide accommodation for resident Doctors, Nurses and technicians. Two identical blocks could be planned, each of 150 beds. This would permit initially one such block to be built and to finish 75 beds, including intensive care, operation theaters and delivery suites. Space would be identified and reserved for one more similar block, when the demand for services justifies it.
